Aus Adventure: Welcome to Travel

Hello Everyone, I hope you’re all safe and well during these very strange times. I am currently living at Spot X Surf Camp on the East Coast of Australia during the COVID 19 pandemic. It’s a weird feeling being at the other side of the world during all of this madness, but I figured I would use this time to reflect on my Australian journey. I’m sure there are so many people so eager to travel when all of this is over, so I thought I’d return to my blog and write up a cheeky post reflecting on my first couple of weeks in Melbourne pre-lockdown. I always knew I wanted to work and travel in Australia, but I just had no idea where to even start with organising it, especially seeing as I knew I was travelling on my own (scary times). I remember googling ‘tours around Australia’ and it just felt like there were so many different things that popped up that all seemed to say the same thing, leading me to feel more lost with it all. I’ve done lots of travelling before, but I alwa

I've Graduated!

Hello Everyone! The past few months have been an absolute whirlwind of stress, tears, happiness and joy. I can hold my hands up and say that I have officially graduated from Newcastle University. I have finally had a chance to actually sit down and reflect on my time at Uni, and I honestly cannot believe that my three years are over... the saying is true that time flies when you're having fun. Coming back to my post in September 2015 University? Yes... No... YES, I can now say that going to University was completely worth it. I cannot answer whether I think a degree is beneficial to my future as I am currently not applying for new jobs, however the whole University experience has been priceless and I would not change a thing. I'm also so happy that I didn't have a gap year before Uni. I feel so much more ready to travel now and have just got back from travelling around Thailand which was insane. Going to University when I did was definitely the best decision. TIPS for

Why Instagram is the worst app to be addicted to...

Hey Everyone! So today in the midst of essays, exams and revision, I figured I would write a post about the app that makes our thumbs sore from scrolling, the biggest form of procrastination yet, and the friend we all love but also hate. Yep, you've got it, I am going to put my hands in the air (or on the keyboard) and have a rant about Instagram. Firstly, I have an Instagram addiction. I have always been a lover of the ol' gram. I love capturing moments and making them look as pretty as possible, even if that does mean photos looking staged or unrealistic. I've always loved sharing memories with the world, liking my friends' photos, and even exploring the accounts of other creative people, and following them like I've known them my whole life. It honestly felt like I'd gained an award when Dr. Martens requested for one of my pictures to be posted on their official account. I was buzzing like a bee. However, recently I've found myself not enjoying Inst

The things that change when you go to Newcastle University

Hello Everyone, As a Uni student who overthinks a LOT, there have definitely been moments where I've reflected on my time AT University, but also the time BEFORE. After a mental two years, I thought I'd write a little post for you, all about the things that I feel change when you go to Uni. The first is... fashion When you go to University, your fashion gets lazier, and you find yourself walking sluggishly to your lectures in the comfiest leggings you can find, the biggest and most baggy jumper you can get hold of, your gazelles, and no makeup. I am fully guilty of this. For some reason though, on a night out in Newcastle, it seems acceptable to go out in pretty much exactly the same thing, but with more makeup, your Calvin Klein's underneath and the addition of a cap (even though it's night time). Again, I am guilty of this, as shown below. At the end of second year, I noticed that pretty much every other person walking round Jesmond was wearing either a bom

The Legendary Ricky... and Pranks (of course)

Hello Everyone! So today I'm going to take a moment to remember our good friend Ricky. He brought out the inner madness in everyone. He made everyone smile at the mucky carpet, lust at the mouldy kitchen, love the bare brick walls and laugh at the one toilet shared between six people which blocked every week (and even overflowed at one point). Because despite the place being an absolute shithole, there was something so special and euphoric about it that made you think there was absolutely no place you'd rather be. With only one year left of Uni, I'm feeling all nostalgic and am going to reflect on a very happy time in my life... this being within the heart and soul of Richardson Road. I know it was over a year ago now, but I'm sure I can't be the only one who looks back at those unforgettable Ricky moments without either giggling to myself at how crazy it was, or without my heart breaking a little because of it being no longer there. Don't get me wrong, Jesm
